Welcome to Trinidad State!
My name is Genia (Gina) Rasmussen (Ras` mus sen); which is very easy—it just looks a bit difficult!

Trinidad State is a great place to build your educational experience! I have taught here since 1997. I earned my Master of Arts in Business Education at Adams State University and also hold Colorado Business Vocational Credentials. As well, I possess 25+ years’ experience in maintaining financial records and preparing taxes for a small family business and worked as an administrative assistant for various companies in Colorado. I am the site coordinator for Tax Help Colorado for Valley Campus. This is a free tax prep service for those earning $55,000 or less yearly income. We are certified through the IRS and it provides students and volunteers invaluable experience preparing taxes and working with community members.

My husband also taught in the San Luis Valley for 30 years and we have three remarkable children. We have also been blessed with four granddaughters and a grandson who are awesomely amazing! I enjoy spending time with my family through various activities throughout the year. The grandchildren keep us laughing and entertained and we look forward to them coming to hang out with "Nana and Papa!" As our children were growing up we would take family trips throughout the United States. We even went to Hawaii and enjoyed the beautiful island life! We have traveled by train, plane and automobile! All three interesting ways to see the country! A few summers ago, we experienced a cruise in the Mediterranean Sea! Wow! We saw Venice, Florence and Rome, Italy. Then onto Athens, Greece and Barcelona, Spain! In May of this year we traveled to Epcot at Walt Disney World where we visited the 11 micro countries. It was also the Flower & Garden Show! Exquisite! My favorite part was the Butterfly Tent. It was very relaxing to watch the butterflies that had hatched flit throughout the park and then come back to the tent for a safe haven during the night. All very magnificent but home is ALWAYS dear to the heart!

As well, I enjoy quilting, reading, and exercising! One of my favorite ways to exercise is Zumba! As well, if you are in to SyFi—Netflix has a great series entitle “Lost in Space.” It has the same characters as the original cast, but with a few modifications! Great show to watch--when you have some spare time!

I look forward to growing and learning together!
