How to Apply for Financial Aid


Follow the steps below to apply for Financial Aid

1. File an application for admission to Trinidad State Junior College.
2. Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) . Submit a renewal FAFSA form for each year after the first. The federal code for TSJC is: 001368
3. Within 3 - 4 weeks of submitting for FAFSA you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) in the mail or email. Review the information for accuracy and take it to the Financial Aid Office if there are any questions or corrections about the SAR.
4. If you were selected for verification, see Part 1 of the SAR. You must provide the Financial Aid Officer with the documents to verify taxed and untaxed income and complete a verification worksheet. Verification forms can also be obtained in the financial aid office.
5. If your financial aid application is complete and has been verified, if necessary, you will be mailed an award notice indication how much, and the different types of aid you have been awarded. Keep this information for your records.
6. Depending on your award notice, you may then seek a work-study position and/or a student loan. Inquire at the Financial Aid Office for further details.
