Graduation Commencement Ceremonies

Trinidad Campus:

When is the Graduation Rehearsal?
Graduation rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, May 10th at 3pm in Scott Gymnasium.

When is the Commencement Ceremony?
The commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, May 12th at 10am at Trinidad State Jr. College – in the Pit.

What Do I Do The Day Of Commencement?
All candidates are encouraged to be present at the commencement exercise, wearing cap and gown.

Instructions for Graduates

  • Caps and gowns will be ready for pick up April 25-May 6, 2-5pm in BERG 201.
  • Candidates should wear tassels on the right until it is changed at the time of conferring the degrees.
  • Graduates need to line up at 9:15 am on May 13. The procession will form alphabetically in front of Scott gymnasium.
  • Each candidate will be given a name card the morning of graduation, which should be presented at the time his/her name is to be read.
  • When candidates are asked to approach the platform to receive diploma covers, all candidates will go proceed across the stage from left to right (as they face the podium) in alphabetical order. After receiving his/her diploma cover, each candidate will exit platform and return to his/her seat.

Undergraduate Honors
Students who will be graduating with honors will be given a color cord during the graduation practice based on their cumulative GPA as follows:

  • Gold Cord – Graduating with highest honor – Summa Cum Laude (4.0 GPA)
  • Silver Cord – Graduating with Great Honor – Magna Cum Laude (3.75 - 3.99 GPA)
  • Bronze Cord – Graduating with Honor – Cum Laude (3.5 – 3.74 GPA)

The honor cords are for those students receiving a Degree.

Valley Campus:

When is the Graduation Rehearsal?
Graduation rehearsal will be held on Thursday, May 11th at 4pm at Adams State University – Plachy Hall, on Stadium Drive.

When is the Commencement Ceremony?
The commencement ceremony of graduation will be held on Friday, May 12th at 6pm at Adams State University – Plachy Hall, on Stadium Drive.

What Do I Do The Day Of Commencement?
All candidates are encouraged to be present at the commencement exercise, wearing cap and gown.

Instructions for Graduates
•    Caps should be worn level (Ready for pick up on Monday, May 8 - Friday, May 11 from Mathilda – room 104)
•    Candidates should wear tassels on the right until it is changed at the time of conferring the degrees.
•    The procession from the track area into the gym will form alphabetically within programs.
•    Each candidate will be given a name card which should be presented at the time his/her name is to be read.
•    When candidates are asked to approach the platform to receive diploma covers, all candidates will go forward to the right of the platform (as they face the speakers) in alphabetical order. After receiving his/her diploma cover, each candidate will exit across the platform and return to his/her seat.
