The Student Affairs Plan was designed through a team effort by student services personnel. Student surveys were conducted, and areas needing improvement were identified and used to develop the initial plan. Student Services staff in admissions, placement, recruitment, retention, and student life provided input for improvement, targets, and deadlines. A cycle for improvement planning that feeds into the budget correlates with the Educational Master Plan and other subordinate plans. This plan includes enrollment management processes. It seems simplistic, but students “vote with their enrollment.” TSJC monitors student enrollment trends each semester and adjusts the schedule to follow those trends. Certain programs and course offerings will rise and fall dependent on the enrollment of several preceding years. Most CTE students move through as a cohort, and the numbers are predictable. This plan will help the Student Services Division set targets to work toward improvement in areas such as number of students and quality of students.
