Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about GED prep and Adult Education.

No, but it is highly recommended. Enrolling in a GED preparation program lets you review the test material and take practice tests written in the same format as the actual GED — so you know exactly what to expect on test day.

The GED covers four subject areas: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies. The math section is split into two parts — one with a calculator allowed and one without.

It depends on the individual. When you enroll, our instructors administer placement assessments to identify exactly what you need to work on in each subject area. From there, your timeline depends on your schedule, effort, and how quickly you master the material. Because instruction is individualized, you move at your own pace.

If you completed your GED before January 2014, you are not affected. However, if you began but did not finish before January 2014, those partial scores no longer apply and you will need to start fresh. All GED tests are now computer-based.

Adult Education classes at Trinidad State are free. There is no tuition, no application fee, and no prior education required to enroll. Contact us and we will help you get started.
