Las Animas County Writing Contest

CALLING All K-12TH GRADE WRITERS!

The Las Animas County Creative Writing Contest is seeking authors for this year’s Creative Writing Publication. If you are a student in grades K-12 and would like to have your story or poem published in this year’s book please read the following.

Open to ALL Themes & the Genres: Fiction, Poetry, and Creative Essays. 

Students will compete in 5 groups: 
(K, 1st-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, 9th-12th) 
1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners from each group. 

Must attend a Las Animas County School 
* Homeschoolers residing in the county welcome
CASH PRIZES! ~ Six (6) $500 Scholarships! 
(Only for Seniors planning to attend TSC).

All entries will be made available as a BOOK!
Awards Ceremony at Trinidad State College Campus.
All work must be submitted by March 10th, 2025


Rules
  • All submissions must be the original work of the author and will be checked for plagiarism.
  • The content must be suitable for a K-12 audience.

    • Student’s Name, age, grade, school
    • Contact person’s information – Teacher // Parent // Guardian
    • All submissions must be typed and submitted utilizing the form on this page.
    • Only one submission per student.
      CASH PRIZES!
    • Six (6) $500 Scholarships!

    • CASH FOR TEACHERS WITH 3+ SUBMISSIONS! 
      ONLY SUBMIT WHAT YOU DEEM THE BEST STUDENT ENTRIES FROM EACH CLASS
      (NO MORE THAN 10).

    • HOW TO SUBMIT:
      • Submissions must be original and may include artwork
      • 1,000 words maximum (must be typed)*
        * High School students may submit up to 1,200 words.
      • All work must be submitted by March 10, 2025
