Jim Kynor is Trinidad State's Vice President of Operations and Workforce Development.
Kynor oversees numerous departments and functions across the college to include: Marketing,
Continuing Education and Workforce Development, Human Resources, Facilities and Emergency
Management. Kynor is also the face of Trinidad State in the San Luis Valley, and is
active in the community with an eye toward enhancing economic development, workforce
development and educational partnerships opportunities within the SLV. Kynor is very
active in the community, as a board member of the Alamosa Chamber of Commerce; board
member and officer of the San Luis Valley Little Learner Academy, Inc., and representing
TSC on the city of Alamosa's Economic Development Council. He is a graduate of the
inaugural class of Leadership Alamosa.
Prior to joining TSC in 2019, he served as an Academic Dean at the Community College
of Denver, where he led the Business, Technology and Advanced Manufacturing programs
for nearly four years, During his tenure at Community College of Denver, Kynor also
served as the President of the Dean's Council for the Colorado Community College System.
Before joining the Community College of Denver team, he was an Associate Dean of Career
and Technical Education at Pikes Peak State College. Kynor has worked in the Colorado
Community College System for twelve years.
Aside from being a US Army veteran, Kynor has significant private sector experience
as a strategic business consultant with the global consulting firm of Coopers & Lybrand.
He also served as a director of Quality, Planning and International Business for a
publicly traded manufacturing, construction and engineering firm. Kynor lived and
worked extensively abroad--primarily in Central and Eastern Europe.
He lives in Alamosa with his wife Maribeth and son Lucas.
