Criminal Justice
On Friday, April 22, 2022, Trinidad State held a mock crime scene event today for Criminal Justice students on the Trinidad Campus. The crime scene was part of Arin Hart's Crime Scene Investigation class, but it was open to all Criminal Justice students.
Students learned how to process and document a crime scene including diagraming, rough scene sketches, and photography. Furthermore, students learned how to tape a scene off, bag and tag evidence, question witnesses, dust for fingerprints, cast footprints, and look for gun shot residue.
The event also included a luminol demonstration, blood splatter examples and students learned about bullet trajectory.
Instructor Arin Hart was assisted by members of the Las Animas County Sheriff's Office and Faculty member Sarah Sloane.
