Alfredo (Freddy) Burciaga serves as the Vice President of Student Affairs at Trinidad State College, where he provides leadership and oversight for student services across both the Trinidad and Valley Campuses. In this role, he advances student access, retention, and completion efforts within a rural, multi-campus college serving geographically diverse communities.

With more than 27 years of experience in higher education, Freddy brings a strong background in financial aid, student services, and student-centered program development. His work focuses on removing barriers to access, strengthening coordinated support services, and promoting persistence for rural, first-generation, and historically underserved students.

Freddy’s experience includes leadership roles at both two-year and four-year institutions, as well as statewide legislative initiative implementation with the Colorado Department of Higher Education. He is currently completing his Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership and holds a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration Leadership and a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from CSU–Pueblo.

Having grown up in southeastern Colorado and recently returning to the Trinidad community, Freddy maintains a strong connection to rural Colorado. He values family, community relationships, and outdoor adventure, and enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and his Siberian Husky, Azul. Freddy is deeply committed to creating an inclusive and supportive student experience that helps rural students successfully enroll, persist, and complete their educational goals.
