The 2019 Softball Alumni scrimmage was held on Saturday afternoon at Southside Park. Close to 25 former players and coaches returned for the event which was held in front of a large group of parents and fans. The play on the field was good at times and comical at others, and at the end of the day everyone enjoyed the camaraderie an event of this sort brings.

The Trojan softball program has only had two head coaches lead them into competition over its 17 years of existence. This Saturday was the first time Coach Paul Seifried, who started the program and led it for three years, and Coach Steve Swazo, who has coached it in the 14 years since, have shared the field at Southside Park. They were joined by current assistant coaches Courtney Vigil and Vikki Gonzales, as well as past assistant coaches Dani Martinez, Kaycee Prevedel, Nicole (Janssen) Mauro, Rachel (Lovato) Ford and Holly (Stevens) Massarotti.

Alumni who returned for the event included Caiden Yocham, Teaja Rivera, Samantha Glover, Courtney Vigil, Vikki Gonzales, Kaitlyn Matilla, Nicole (Janssen) Mauro, Brianna (Boyd) Cunningham, Desi Moreno, Kiera Jackson, Tashena McIntosh, Demi Madalena, Tonya Trujillo, Kaycee Prevedel, Laura (Trehal) Kelly, Ashley (Collins) Johnson, Deanna Montano, Olivia Muniz, Ariel Navarro, Rachel (Lovato) Ford, Holly (Stevens) Massarotti, Kelsey Apodaca, Megan Nunez and Tanesha (Bradford) Varela. Saturday’s scrimmage was the only home action the 2019-2020 Trojans will see this fall. They will play the rest of the fall on the road as the City upgrades the facilities. Trojan softball will return to Southside Park in February.
