Erika Victor and Lucile Wedeking share their unique and individual artists’ journeys, finding parallels in both their careers starting out in New York City, only to discover their true artist path in venturing out into undiscovered territory and finding success in the rural places beyond.

Lucile Wedeking
Lucile Wedeking (b. 1981, San Francisco, CA) is an American painter located in rural West Texas, best known for her interpretations merging the Old and New West. Raised by artist parents and classically trained at Parsons School of Design in New York (BFA 2003), her practice has evolved through past careers in fashion design, and later, as a librarian and archivist, where she fell in love with the history and lore of the American West.
Having transitioned from archival work to a full time studio practice, the narratives found on her vast treasure hunts continue to inspire her stories laid out on canvas, where memories of old sepia toned characters ride out into a new realm of dreamlike color and outer world landscapes.
In addition to painting and traveling to sketch, Lucile enjoys time spent with her family raising Brangus cattle on their 6th generation ranch. As a Signature and Founding member of the Cowgirl Artists of America, and proud board member of the Texas Historical Commission’s Forts Trails, she continues to share her love of history in heritage development, highlighting ranching culture throughout the West.
